LAS VEGAS – The NAACP, the nation’s largest civil rights organization, will hold its 115th National Convention in Las Vegas this week under the theme ‘All In.’ The primary focus of this convention is to conduct the resolutions process, where good-standing members of the Association vote on various resolutions that shape the official policy positions of the NAACP for the coming year.

The NAACP is set to pass several resolutions addressing critical issues for Black America, including criminal justice reform, gun control, the glorification of the Confederacy, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), health equity, and more. These resolutions reflect the Association’s ongoing commitment to protecting the community from systemically racist and potentially harmful policies at federal, state, and local levels. Key topics include:

  • Condemning the Display and Commercialization of the Confederate Battle Flag
  • Calling for the Accurate Reporting of Deaths in Police Custody
  • Bridging the Digital Divide and Creating Sustainable Solutions for Connectivity in the Black Community
  • Maintaining Accurate African American History in School Curriculum
  • Advancing a Future that Reduces Plastic Pollution
  • Addressing the Mental and Behavioral Health Care Needs of the Black Community
  • Protecting and Advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Health, Healthcare, and Medical Education to Save Black Lives
  • Ensuring Paid Family and Medical Leave for All Workers
  • Programs for Youth Workforce Development

All resolutions passed will be ratified by the National Board of Directors during their October meeting.

“As we approach the 115th National Convention, the NAACP remains resolute in our commitment to advancing civil rights as the oldest and largest civil rights organization in the nation. We stand prepared to overcome challenges, embrace opportunities, and build a more inclusive and equitable society for future generations,” stated the NAACP.
