Special election runoff fills Texas’ 18th Congressional seat

Runoff set for Jan. 31 for vacant Texas U.S. House seat

Jackson is among more than two dozen Mississippi municipalities holding primary runoff elections on Tuesday. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Those who voted in the April 1 primary elections must vote in the same party’s runoff. Meaning that if you voted in the Democratic primary, you are not eligible to vote in the Republican primary runoff. If you didn’t vote in the primary, you can vote either party during the runoff.

One race to watch is the face-off between Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba and State Sen. John Horhn. The Democrats have been campaigning hoping to get voters to the polls on Tuesday.

Voters are required to show photo identification at the polls.
