The National Archives has announced the launch of the Civil Rights Cold Case Records Collection Portal. This new portal serves as both a subject guide and an index for the Civil Rights Cold Case Records Collection, which contains records created in response to the Civil Rights Cold Case Records Collection Act, signed into law by President Donald Trump in 2019.
The portal provides an easier way to access records that have been digitized, reviewed, and released under the Act. It utilizes data from the National Archives Catalog and features enhanced filtering options. The interactive map interface offers a visual representation of the incidents documented in these records. A frequently asked questions (FAQ) page is also available to help users navigate the portal.
“I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the teams from offices across the National Archives and our contract partners who worked to develop this portal. I also want to extend thanks and appreciation to the external stakeholders who provided valuable feedback during the development of this innovative tool,” said Meghan Guthorn, Deputy Chief Operating Officer.
Currently, the portal includes records from the first three incidents that were digitized, reviewed, and released under the Act, with additional records to be added as they become available. Source: National Archives
