James E. Clyburn, a Democratic representative from South Carolina, has been a prominent figure in U.S. politics since his first election in 1992. As he prepares for his next campaign in 2024, insights into his fundraising efforts highlight the support he receives from various industries and organizations.

During the 2023–2024 election cycle, Clyburn’s campaign committee raised $2,103,647 and spent $2,337,354, leaving $2,060,828 in cash on hand, with no outstanding debts. Additionally, his Leadership PAC, BRIDGE PAC, plays a key role in his fundraising strategy. The latest financial report, dated October 16, 2024, provides a detailed breakdown of his campaign finances.

The Electric Utilities industry stands out as Clyburn’s largest supporter, contributing $116,850 to his campaign. Other significant industries include Lawyers/Law Firms ($102,985), Retired Individuals ($101,958), Insurance ($99,397), and Securities & Investment ($83,944). These contributions underscore his strong ties to sectors that play influential roles in policy and economic development.

On an individual level, PricewaterhouseCoopers emerged as the top contributor, donating $15,500, of which $5,500 came from individuals and $10,000 from PACs. Other major donors include Pro-Israel PACs, contributing $206,800, American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), contributing $14,350, followed by Truist Financial ($13,225), NCTA – The Internet & Television Association ($13,000), and Wells Fargo ($12,028).

Examining the sources of Clyburn’s campaign funding reveals that 65.56% comes from PAC contributions, amounting to $1,379,251. Large individual contributions account for 25.95% ($545,933), while small individual contributions, defined as donations under $200, make up 7.86% ($165,452). The remaining 0.62%, totaling $13,012, comes from other sources. Notably, Clyburn’s campaign has not relied on self-financing.

These figures highlight the breadth of Clyburn’s support across industries and organizations, reflecting his enduring influence and the significant backing he continues to receive as a key figure in Congress heading into the 2024 election. Source: Open Secrets
