President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have initiated a new advertising campaign criticizing Donald Trump’s treatment of Black America.

The television and radio ads take aim at Trump’s unfounded claims of achievements for the Black community and his controversial remarks on racial issues.

They condemn Trump for his support of white nationalists following the violent “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017. The ads also highlight his questioning of President Barack Obama’s citizenship and his advocacy for the execution of the Central Park Five, who were later exonerated.

The Central Park Five case, involving five Black and Latino teenagers wrongly convicted of assaulting and raping a white woman in 1989, serves as a focal point. The ads underscore the racial biases evident in the media coverage of the case and emphasize the exoneration of the teens years later due to DNA evidence.

According to a news release from the Biden-Harris campaign, the ads emphasize the potential ramifications for Black Americans in a second Trump term, citing his rhetoric of vengeance and admiration for the January 6 insurrectionists as “heroes and patriots.”

Yusef Salaam, now a New York City council member and one of the Central Park Five, urges Black and brown communities to vote against Trump in the upcoming election. He criticizes Trump’s actions, stating they reflect a profound disregard for Black and Latino lives. Source: Huff Post
