WASHINGTON — The NAACP has officially launched the Building Community Voice Fund (BCVF), a non-partisan, multi-million dollar initiative designed to support 501(c)(3) voter registration and turnout efforts, along with voter education and protection programs.
Dominik Whitehead, NAACP Vice President of Campaigns, stated:
“This year, the NAACP is laser-focused on our robust civic engagement efforts. As we mobilize 13.5 million Black voters across 12 priority states, we understand the importance of investing directly in the community. The Building Community Voice Fund will provide essential resources to grassroots organizations, ensuring that Black Americans are informed and engaged in pivotal local elections that are often overlooked. Together, we will ensure that democracy prevails and Black voices are heard loud and clear.”
Research indicates that targeted investments in state groups positively impact the daily lives of Black voters. The NAACP is committed to the BCVF program, aiming to further define the impact of investments in both competitive and progressive counties.
Brittany Smith, Program Director of the NAACP Building Community Voice Fund, emphasized the importance of the initiative:
“In many Black communities, a lack of resources directly contributes to low voter registration and turnout,” Smith said. “The BCVF program is crucial for Black Americans to have a voice in this critical upcoming election and beyond.”
