The Working Families Party announced that Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (CA-12) will deliver its eighth annual response to the President’s address to Congress on March 4th.
Simon serves as a Deputy Whip for Policy, Vice Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, and is a member of several key caucuses, including the Congressional Black Caucus and Reproductive Rights Caucus.
“I’m deeply honored to speak on behalf of the Working Families Party,” said Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (CA-12). “We need a government that truly represents working people, not just billionaires. The WFP is fighting for a better future, and I’m proud to be a part of it. As a Member of Congress, I believe it’s essential we show up for our communities and remind people that a better life is possible. We can build a country where everyone has access to quality healthcare, a good job, and affordable housing.”
Congresswoman Simon’s career began at the Young Women’s Freedom Center, where she earned a prestigious MacArthur Fellowship. She later led the Back on Track program, a nationally recognized initiative offering alternatives to incarceration for first-time, nonviolent offenders.
In Congress, Rep. Simon is tackling pressing issues, including the housing affordability crisis, mental health, and homelessness, and lowering everyday costs for working families.
The Working Families Party proudly endorsed Rep. Simon in 2024, filling the seat previously held by Rep. Barbara Lee.
