Stacey Plaskett, a Democrat representing the U.S. Virgin Islands, has been a member of Congress since her first election in 2014. She is currently gearing up for her 2024 reelection campaign while continuing her role on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Her campaign fundraising and expenditures for the 2023–2024 election cycle highlight significant contributions from influential industries and individuals.

As of the latest report on October 16, 2024, Plaskett’s campaign has raised $628,697, spending $586,909 during this cycle. Despite the high expenditures, her campaign maintains a cash balance of $88,527, with an outstanding debt of $24,733. A key part of her fundraising efforts is driven by her leadership PAC, Grange PAC, which plays a vital role in securing contributions.

Top contributors to her campaign include major corporations and individuals. Bloomberg LP leads the list with $23,100, all derived from individual donations. Other significant contributors include Joel H. Holt, Esq., who donated $13,400, and Rock Holdings, which provided $11,800—split between $3,300 from individuals and $8,500 from PACs. Pharmaceutical giant AbbVie Inc. and the Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation Union also contributed $10,000 each, both entirely through PAC contributions.

Plaskett’s campaign draws strong financial support from several industries. Leadership PACs contributed $46,545, including $1,000 from individuals and $45,545 from PACs. Lawyers and law firms followed closely with $44,375, of which $36,625 came from individual contributions. Lobbyists added $42,470, with the majority—$41,470—coming from individuals. Contributions from the real estate sector amounted to $41,567, primarily from PACs ($30,000). Additionally, the miscellaneous finance sector provided $29,535, with $27,035 coming from individuals.

The campaign’s funding sources reveal a balanced approach, with PAC contributions accounting for 49.85% of the total, or $317,870. Large individual contributions makeup 46.04%, totaling $293,518, while small individual contributions under $200 account for $26,153, or 4.10%. Plaskett has not engaged in any self-financing, and other contributions stand at -$8,843, reflecting adjustments.

Stacey Plaskett’s fundraising success underscores her strong connections with leadership PACs, legal professionals, and lobbyists, which will be instrumental as she prepares for her next electoral challenge. The support from these key sectors positions her campaign for continued competitiveness in the upcoming 2024 election. Source: Open Secrets
